She had never planned on leading a pack. Sure, once or twice she had imagined what it might be like, but everyone had done that. The land had called to her, though, and she couldn't refuse. As she had gone to mark her new territory, she found the scent of someone else having been there. That wolf had gone a few weeks ago, most likely. It was like he'd claimed the land, marked his territory, and gotten bored and left. Weird, Kylon thought to herself.
She had no one with her currently. That was a problem she’d have to fix soon. Kylon smiled and walked toward the waterline. If she was to call someone, she might as well try calling from a place she liked, right? Her head and tail were both held high as she walked over the smooth pebbles that naturally littered the beach. It was likely that the waves had smoothed the rocks then left them on shore. Kylon padded through a few inches of the dark water. Then, she walked out, satisfied with her now-wet paws. Her love for water was rivaled by nothing.
Kylon raised her head and howled up at the cloudy sky. “Hello? If anyone hears this, come here!” She howled. She dropped her head back to normal after she’d finished. There were dark clouds in the sky, as she’d just noticed. A storm might be approaching… Hopefully, she’d make it through meeting at least one person before it rained on her. She had no problem with rain, but others sometimes insisted on going into shelter when it came, which would change the place she was if anyone else tried to come answer her call.
Kylon looked around. Obviously, no one was close enough to be here just yet. She could relax for a few minutes at least. She brushed a few pebbles away from a spot of sand to make a comfortable place to lie down. After walking in a circle to make sure it would be comfortable, she laid down. Her ears were up, listening for any sound. Someone would come, right? Definitely… I mean, why wouldn’t they? She tried to console herself as she waited uncertainly. She kept her head up and a watchful eye in all directions. She wanted to relax, but she couldn’t be seen as too soft-hearted if she was to be an alpha. Besides, she had things to think about. The pack needed a name, for one thing. Currently, her mind was set on getting members that weren’t just the one alpha female, though.

A/N: I used Microsoft Word to check the number of words, so it might be off a bit. The codes for italics and colors weren’t included when I counted. Just wanted to make sure this was known. :)
