Hello all!
Black footfalls trotted rhythmically against the earth as the pale beast trotted lightly through the short, sparse grass. His tail swung jauntily behind his carriage, his chest stroked by leaves and branch brambles as he pushed them from his path. Dovev didn't seem to be in any hurry, just taking his time as he strode along the unfamiliar land. There was little concern in his golden pools, just a barely hidden zeal for adventure. The male had journeyed from the east, heading towards this coastal realm. Oh yes, he had met wolves, but nothing had grasped his attentions so surely as it had now. As soon as Dovev had entered the realm and its' forests, the scents of his kind had barraged his nose. The massive creature had then proceeded to explore the kingdom's depths, and now he walked between tall trees and through clearings, between soft green foliage.
His walking wasn't burdened with fatigue. Even though Dovev had traveled from high desert to glacial mountains to this, he had been well rested and fed. Stopping in places for a week, Dovev was able to replenish his hunger and recuperate, relaxing tired legs and worn paw pads. But wolves were built for long-distance traveling. Their pillars were strips of muscle loosely connected to their bodies, so their gait was one sinuous swing, and energy efficient. Their toes were wide and tough, able to cross any terrain. And Dovev was no different. Even if he was large, his legs supported himself well and had carried him many, many miles.
The forest split then, the trunks stopping to make way for a large blanket of sweet-smelling grass. The dirt slowly sloped upwards to a rise in the land, with a single elm taking it's peak. Wolves were naturally inclined to seek out vantage points and survey the land, and Dovev saw the hill as a nice opportunity. With a lunge, the brute broke out of the confines of the trot and accelerated into a romp. It was a loose gait, his paws pounding the earth as his head swung, looking for anything of concern. Finding none, Dovev ran up the crest of the hill, and slowed to a halt at the base of the tree. From here, the wind buffeted his nostrils and brought the earthy tones of the forest, and.. wolf. He had already trapped scents of his kind before, but here it was more apparent. It seemed others had traversed this hill before him, using its' location to their advantage. But no one was close by.
